Furthermore, it is also the sequel to earlier released game in the series Dynasty Warriors 3 Game. The game features both single player and multiplayer gameplay mode for the players.

Xbox version released in Japan on 4 September 2003 and in North America released on 30 September 2003. A PlayStation Work version released in Japan on 17 April 2013.

The gameplay is much similar to the earlier games in the Dynasty Warriors Game series. Some new characters, gameplay modes are added now in the game along with a new Edit Mode. The main purpose is to fight against different enemy troops, commanders and defeat them using many in game weapons, moves, strategies and keep own commander and troops alive. Many side quests also offered during the main gameplay.
Players unlocks many elements which make the next stages to easy to play for the player. Each of the character have their own capabilities, powers, weapons and unique moves. The players engage in battlefield to fight against other opponent players. On the other hand Mosu Mode is now added for full campaign in a specific kingdom which earlier added for the characters. As the player progress in the MOsu Mode they can unlock more characters and other game elements like maps, weapons. Another important feature added in the game is called Moral System which boost or drops according to the situations during the fights. In single player campaigns the player choose a character to play the game. Meanwhile all the characters has their own separate stories and incidents.
